  • maternity card
  • married women must provide the original marriage certificate
  • unmarried or divorced mothers who wish their child to take the father’s surname must provide a certificate of paternity (issued by the registry office) + original birth certificates of both parents

  • toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrush, unscented soap, shower gel, comb
  • medicines in their original packaging
  • disposable items: bra pads, maternity pads, mesh knickers
  • may be useful: compression stockings in case of varicose veins or a planned caesarean section, oak bark gel, your own music for the delivery room, camera, mobile phone and charger

For the baby:

  • 5 cloth nappies – versatile use, can also serve as a bath towel
  • Your own baby clothes – for photos and the journey home (bear in mind the current weather), have the car seat delivered on the day of discharge
  • wet wipes or a washcloth for hygiene during nappy changes
  • a small pack of size 1 disposable nappies – just in case; nappies are normally available on the ward
  • possibly baby toiletries of your choice, though we have high-quality toiletries available as standard on the ward
