Vaginal examination

Breast milk is the best possible nutrition for your baby. Close contact with your baby – skin-to-skin bonding – not just in the first few hours of life, is the first step towards successful breastfeeding.

We carry out vaginal examinations upon admission to the delivery room and as the situation requires. Without a vaginal examination, it is not possible to assess the progress of labour or detect certain serious complications. In the case of an uncomplicated labour, the number of vaginal examinations is kept to an absolute minimum. Unless the baby’s life or health is in immediate danger, the mother may refuse the examination.
