In general
Breast milk is the best possible nutrition for your baby. Close contact with your baby – skin-to-skin bonding – not just in the first few hours of life, is the first step towards successful breastfeeding.
- We support the natural course of labour; we only offer medication to speed up labour in the event of a prolonged labour standstill, and we do not intervene unnecessarily as a preventive measure
- During the first stage of labour, we encourage free movement and the option to adopt any position that provides relief; you may use a shower, bath, ball, mat, combitrack, suspension ropes or a birthing couch; we support vertical birthing positions
- During the second stage of labour, you may choose a position that suits you
- We respect your wish not to be offered pain relief, but we are prepared to provide it if you wish
- We strive to maintain an intimate atmosphere during labour
- We do not require controlled pushing
- We accept spontaneous delivery of the placenta
